hot food in pouring rains!

heavy rains
windcheaters and umbrellas everywhere

a family
whose home is the footpath

the mother
cooking rice in an aluminium vessel on charcoal fire

her three children giggling
and holding a plastic sheet above the vessel
to prevent the rain drops from filling it.

I don’t see it either. By the way, it’s a reality show, which is quite popular among women of certain age group.

Damn, you are a girl after my own heart. Reality shows suck, quite literaly, first, they have no bearing on reality and beside that if you watch them your brain cells will actually get sucked right thru your eyeballs. It's really nasty.
As for this lovely poem, it is nice to learn the lesson of innocence and want. Witnessing this scene probably fills the observer with more contempt at the situation than the children, finding joy in what others would consider deplorable conditions. Beautiful observation.

This leaves the reader with an awesome image, Anu. I can see clearly this family, the footpath, the aluminum pot, all of it. Very nicely done!

Ozy - Perfectly said! When the whole world was running away from the rains, cursing them drops as they wetted their clothes. These beautiful children half naked were giggling at their own fantastic idea to hold the plastic above the cooking pot :)

Scruffy - It is so easy for me to write these poems when nature paints the pictures before my eyes. Thanks :)
