still

when i think of the swan floating blissfully in the lake
i wonder----
is the lake moving while the swan is still
or is the swan moving while the lake is still?

perhaps, our life and our mind are similar..

Anu,

You could read a chapter of shobogenzo of master Dogen called Genjokoan. It actaully speaks about the same phenomena...

I really enjoy this post. I sit still in Zazen and my mind is moving all over. When practicing a Kung Fu form, I move with a still mind.(sometimes lol)

Hariy Hugs and Face Licks!

I know what Lone Wolf talks of, there... When on the aikido dojo mats, my mind can blank out, become very calm as I'm waiting to execute a technique. But sitting zazen, it's ALLLLLLL over the place...

That was a thought-provoking poem.

I used to ponder...
I move upon the surface of a revolving planet that orbits a star the dances with countless other stars as they swirl about the center of a galaxy that moves within a cluster of other galaxies swirling about other galactic clusters being enacted upon by tides and forces beyond our comprehension...
And yet
Somewhere
There is a center of it all
The hinge point of all of existence
What if
What if that point were me
What if the entire of existence revolved around me once a day no matter where I moved or what I did
What if I were to only true still thing in the universe
I would still be me
I could not fly
Or walk on water
Or heal with a touch
All would be the same
It’s just that sometimes I get that dizzy feeling like I’m the axis of a gyroscope
I’m held up by centrifugal force

Now I only think that way when I drink too much…
I don’t believe in the center point any longer.
Infiniti has no middle…
Thank you Anu, thank you for stimulating my mind.

Kohai - Thanks kohai. As i said, i am still in neither place, except when i see a swan ;-)

Ozy - what a brilliant perception. I do feel we are the center of the universe and everything revolves around us. But i did not feel it or muse on it till i read your comment and how beautifully and how naturally you go there. Thank you ozy :-) you've stimulated my thinking and feeling as well.

Johnny - yea :-) wow so many insights...now my mind is anything but still johnny.
