put me to sleep

black sky
mid-night
slumbering trees
but i am not sleepy tonight

dogs barking
mosquitoes biting
garden bulb burning
but i am not sleepy tonight

cotton bedsheets
sponge filled pillows
waiting for me
but i am not sleepy tonight

nice warm man
heart full of love
extended arms
and i will sleep peacefully every night

You don't know me, I was just surfing (read as "procrastinating"). You are one of the first indian women (given up on indian guys) I can relate to in a really long time. Just wanted to say thanks. Also, Sorry if you get creeped out by strangers leaving comments on your blog, I probably would.

Anu, your poetry is full of passion, real and sensative, like you, a warm and lovely heart, how lucky he will be to lie next to you, and feel your warmth and passion. Although, you might not get much sleep!, you will certainly find peace.

take care
nina

loved the way in which the i am not sleepy tonight became ironic as it had a lullaby quality to it - obviously belied by its meaning

If you had such a man, sometimes you would still not sleep peacefully. Sometimes you would wonder what he has been up to or whether he will stay or or or or or.

I haven't tried it with a man (not my bag baby) but I can it's true for a women in the bed.

I know that sleeplessness too.. and a warm body next to you in bed does seem to be something of a cure.

I answered your question by the way, Anu.

sleep sleep little anu
in the extended arms
of your sleeping lover

sleep sleep little anu
muzzling chin against
his cheek and chin

sleep sleep little anu
locking lip to lip and
tongue to furtive tongue

sleep sleep little anu
sleep in your dreams
with your dream lover
make love in your sleep
